Late קידוש and הבדלה, using beer for קידוש and הבדלה, how much wine to drink, and the meaning of 'סמוך למנחה'

Overview

This amud opens with רבא's final ruling: someone who already ate can still make קידוש or הבדלה, a missed קידוש can be made all שבת day, and a missed הבדלה can be made later in the week. אמימר teaches a version that allows a late הבדלה only on Sunday. A story follows in which אמימר fasted rather than make הבדלה on beer, and a year later accepted beer as חמר מדינה, the main local drink. The גמרא learns three הלכות from his conduct. Next, רב חסדא, רב and שמואל rule that beer may not be used for קידוש or הבדלה, and several Sages express their dislike of beer. Two ברייתות then teach that the כוס של ברכה must be wine, and that the תנאים argue about קידוש on beer. The גמרא rules that one must drink a מלא לוגמא of the קידוש wine. Finally, it returns to the משנה and asks whether 'סמוך למנחה' means מנחה גדולה or מנחה קטנה, a question that continues on the next amud.
