Whether קידוש is an interruption after washing, and whether someone who has tasted food (טעם) may still make קידוש or הבדלה

Overview

This amud opens in the middle of a story. Someone has cited a ruling in רב's name that one who washed his hands for bread should not make קידוש. רב יצחק בר שמואל בר מרתא rejects this. He testifies that he saw רב make קידוש over bread whenever he preferred bread, so קידוש is not an interruption after washing. The גמרא then turns to someone who ate before קידוש or הבדלה. רב הונא quotes רב that one who tasted food cannot make קידוש. On הבדלה, רב הונא in his own name says one who tasted may still make הבדלה, while רב אסי says he may not. In a story at רב אסי's house, רב ירמיה בר אבא makes הבדלה after eating, and רב אסי explains that he is following his teacher רב. Finally, two opposite reports of שמואל's view appear: one says tasting blocks both קידוש and הבדלה, and the other says it blocks neither.
