Overview

This amud finishes a list of 'שמע מינה' lessons from a ברייתא about the כוס של ברכה. One cup can serve for two קדושות, and the ברייתא follows בית שמאי as רבי יהודה reports them. רב אשי says that טעמו פגמו is really the same lesson as the rule that the cup needs a שיעור, and three אמוראים were personally stricter about 'blemished' wine. Next, a ברייתא learns קידוש over wine from 'זכור את יום השבת'. The גמרא re-reads it so that the main קידוש is at night, and a second, daytime קידוש comes from the word 'day'. רב יהודה rules that the daytime קידוש is just בורא פרי הגפן, and a story about רב אשי in מחוזא shows this. Finally, the גמרא sets the time for a missed הבדלה: it can be made up until Wednesday, because the first three days count as 'after שבת', but without the ברכה on fire. The amud ends as רב ברונא begins a teaching in the name of רב, which continues on the next amud.
