Burning disqualified קדשים: whose wood and where, the reasons of embarrassment and suspicion, and the sources for burning a פסח that went out or became טמא
Overview
This amud covers how and why disqualified קדשים are burned. It opens by resolving a contradiction about whether disqualified meat is burned at home with one's own wood or in front of the בירה with עצי המערכה. רב חמא בר עוקבא splits the cases into a visitor (אכסנאי) and a resident (בעל הבית). רב פפא says both cases are about a visitor and asks whether he has already set out on the road. רב זביד defends the first split: since a visitor has no wood of his own, the חכמים treated him like the ציקנין. A ברייתא then forbids mixing place and wood. רב יוסף explains the ban on bringing your own wood to the בירה as protecting the poor from embarrassment, and רבא explains it as preventing suspicion of theft. The same two אמוראים give the same two reasons for why impure כהנים stood at the eastern gate. A new משנה follows: a פסח that went out or became טמא is burned right away, but if its owners became טמא or died it waits for עיבור צורה, and רבי יוחנן בן ברוקה disagrees. The גמרא derives the burning of יוצא from משה's conversation with אהרן, then challenges whether that source reaches קדשים קלים like the פסח. It begins a second challenge about blood left overnight, which continues on the next amud.
