Topic

Eating the קרבן פסח in one group and one place, a bride turning her face, guest etiquette, and serving a group meal. The chapter כיצד צולין ends here.

Overview

This amud opens at the end of a ברייתא in which רבי יהודה and רבי שמעון read the פסוק "בְּבַיִת אֶחָד יֵאָכֵל" differently. The גמרא explains that רבי יהודה follows the written spelling (יש אם למסורת), so the eater must stay in one place. רבי שמעון follows the spoken reading (יש אם למקרא), so the פסח must stay within one חבורה. The גמרא applies this to a מחיצה put up or taken down during the meal. רב אשי tells רב כהנא that this should really be an open question, and it ends in a תיקו. Next the גמרא explains that the כלה in the משנה turns her face because she is embarrassed. Two stories follow about guest manners: רב הונא explains each of his unusual actions, and רבי ישמעאל ברבי יוסי explains why he drank his cup in one gulp. Finally רב הונא, רבה and רבינא discuss when a waiter must serve a group, the הלכה rejects רבינא's demand for extra pay, and the פרק כיצד צולין ends with a הדרן.
