From the עץ הדעת and בת שבע's rebuke of שלמה to the meals that do not make a בן סורר ומורה liable
Overview
This amud opens by finishing a מחלוקת about which plant the עץ הדעת was: a grapevine, wheat, or a fig, with a reason for each view. It then explains a פסוק in משלי as בת שבע rebuking her son שלמה for drinking too much, phrase by phrase. רבי יצחק shows from another פסוק that שלמה later admitted she was right. The גמרא then goes back to the משנה about the בן סורר ומורה and works through its list of meals that do not make the son liable. These are eating with a מצוה group, at the עיבור החודש gathering, eating מעשר שני in ירושלים, eating forbidden meats, and eating tied to a מצוה or an עבירה. Along the way, רבי אבהו says liability needs a group made up entirely of idlers, and רבא says bird meat alone does not count. A פסוק teaches that the law is about disobeying parents, not God. The amud ends by explaining that 'any food' and 'any drink' include pressed figs, honey and milk, and starts a ברייתא about a כהן who ate them, whose ruling continues on the next amud.
