רבא and רבי יהודה on מוקצה; the משנה and גמרא on clearing bones, crumbs, pods and date pits from the table on שבת
Overview
This amud first finishes a discussion about whether רבא holds like רבי יהודה, who is strict about מוקצה and נולד. The גמרא explains that innards given to a cat were planned for the cat before שבת, so they were never מוקצה. It then proves that רבא follows רבי יהודה from his ruling that a poker that breaks on יום טוב may not be burned. A new משנה follows about clearing the table on שבת: bones and shells, crumbs, pea and lentil pods, and wiping with a sponge. The גמרא reports רב נחמן's tradition that reverses בית שמאי and בית הלל, so that בית הלל are lenient like רבי שמעון. It notes that the crumbs ruling supports רבי יוחנן, and that the pods ruling follows רבי שמעון. It then shows that the sponge ruling fits רבי שמעון too, because squeezing the sponge is a פסיק רישיה. Finally, it rules on date pits and lists how different אמוראים got rid of מוקצה pits, and the פרק ends with the הדרן.
