Overview

This amud opens with a ברייתא that supports רב חסדא: oils that may not be used for שבת lights may be used on יום טוב, except שמן שריפה. The גמרא then asks whether חנוכה is mentioned in ברכת המזון. The answer is that it is not required, but whoever mentions it puts it in the הודאה blessing, just as in תפילה. Next it asks the same question about ראש חודש, and רב and רבי חנינא disagree. רב זריקא rules like רב, based on a ברייתא of רבי אושעיא. That ברייתא teaches that days with a קרבן מוסף are mentioned in ברכת המזון, while fast days without one are not. Finally, the גמרא asks whether חנוכה is mentioned in מוסף, and two pairs of אמוראים disagree. אביי tries to link the 'no mention' view to a ruling of רב about the הפטרה on שבת ראש חודש. The גמרא rejects that comparison and finds a better one in רב's ruling about the מנחה הפטרה on a יום טוב that falls on שבת.
