Topic
How many guilt-offerings (אשם ודאי) a man brings for relations with a שפחה חרופה several times, and whether a period of awareness between the acts splits them into separate obligations.
Overview
The amud opens by finishing עולא's ruling. A man who had relations with a שפחה חרופה five times brings only one אשם, even if he realized his sin between each act. רב המנונא objects with a man who sets aside an animal and then sins again. עולא answers that his rule never covered acts done after הפרשה. רב דימי then reports that according to the view that an אשם ודאי requires ידיעה בתחילה, the man brings an offering for each act. אביי challenges him, because רבי יוחנן and ריש לקיש dispute this very question for a חטאת. רב דימי goes silent. אביי suggests he meant acts done after הפרשה, like רב המנונא, and רב דימי agrees. רבין then sums it all up in three cases: everyone agrees on one offering in עולא's case, everyone agrees on an offering for each act in רב המנונא's case, and the view requiring ידיעה falls into the dispute of רבי יוחנן and ריש לקיש. The amud ends with איתמר, which opens a new dispute that continues on the next amud.
