Topic
רב הונא on awareness for half a שיעור; רבי יוחנן and ריש לקיש on when discoveries split one חטאת into two, and at what stage they argue
Overview
The amud opens by finishing a challenge on the משנה about eating two half-olive amounts: the רישא, one type in one dish, seems too obvious to teach. רב הונא answers that the person became aware of his sin in between the two halves. The משנה follows רבן גמליאל, who holds that awareness of half a שיעור means nothing, so the halves still combine. Then a new topic begins: someone ate two כזיתים of חלב in one lapse of awareness and found out about each one at a different time. רבי יוחנן says he brings two חטאות and ריש לקיש says one, and each brings a פסוק and explains away the other's פסוק. רבינא asks רב אשי whether they argue before הפרשה, after הפרשה, or in both cases. רב אשי says both, and proves it from how each side explained the other's פסוק. The גמרא rejects that proof, since those explanations may have been conditional 'if you say' answers. Finally עולא begins a new statement about אשם ודאי, which continues on the next amud.
Opening lines

מִין אֶחָד וְתַמְחוּי אֶחָד
One type and one dish —
צְרִיכָא לְמֵימַר?!
does that need to be said?!
