Overview

The amud opens by finishing the discussion of tearing in order to sew. In the משכן, a curtain with a worm hole was torn further and then sewn neatly. רב זוטרא בר טוביה then quotes three teachings of רב. Tightening a loose stitch on שבת makes a person חייב חטאת. Learning even one thing from a מגוש makes a person liable for death. A person who can calculate תקופות ומזלות but does not should not be spoken with. The גמרא proves that רב holds a מגוש is a heretic (גדופי), and it brings sources showing that calculating the seasons is praised and is even a מצוה. Next, on trapping, a ברייתא brings a מחלוקת between the רבנן and רבי יהודה about whether cracking a חלזון adds a חיוב of דישה. The גמרא then asks why there is no חיוב for killing the חלזון, and it gives two answers: רבי יוחנן's and רבא's. Finally, רב and שמואל argue about whether a שוחט is liable for צובע or for נטילת נשמה.
