Repeating ברכות on מצוות: סוכה, לולב, תפילין, נר חנוכה, and several מצוות at once
Overview
The גמרא quotes a ברייתא that says the ברכה on לולב is repeated all seven days, but the ברכה on סוכה is said only on the first day. This contradicts רבי יוחנן, who said the opposite. The לולב clash is resolved by splitting between the time of the בית המקדש and nowadays. The סוכה clash is a dispute between תנאים, modeled on רבי and the חכמים arguing about blessing on תפילין each time. In practice we follow רבי and bless on סוכה all seven days. Next the גמרא debates whether לולב after the first day gets a ברכה. It proves from חנוכה lights that רב makes a ברכה on a rabbinic מצוה, and it explains how we can say 'וצונו' on such a מצוה. Then it covers the ברכות for a סוכה that was already standing, and whether many מצוות get one ברכה or separate ones. The הלכה follows רבי יהודה, who says each מצוה gets its own ברכה. The עמוד ends by opening an אגדה contrasting humans with ה׳, which continues on the next עמוד.
