Overview

The גמרא tries to use a ברייתא to support רבי יוחנן, who says we recite זמן (שהחיינו) on שמיני עצרת. The proof is pushed off: the ברייתא's 'blessing' may just mean mentioning the day in ברכת המזון and תפלה. Along the way the גמרא asks whether זמן needs a cup of wine.
