The order of skinning and cutting up the קרבן תמיד, and which כהן carries each piece (משנה, מסכת תמיד)

Overview

This amud continues the משנה that describes, step by step, how the כהן cut up the daily קרבן תמיד after it was slaughtered. He hangs the animal by a hole near the knee instead of breaking the leg, and skins it from the top down. He removes the head, the legs and the right hind leg, handing each piece to the כהן who won it in the lottery. He opens the body, puts the פדר fat over the cut neck, and sends the stomach and innards to be rinsed. Then he separates the organs from each other but leaves each in place, so it comes off with the piece it hangs from. The liver goes with the right flank, the windpipe, heart and lung with the גרה, and the spine and spleen with the left flank. The עוקץ comes with the tail, the finger of the liver and the kidneys, and the left hind leg is last. At the end, all the winning כהנים stand in a row, each holding his piece.
