תרומה rules for people who are left out, giving women their turn first, and the mixed-up sons of a כהן and a slave
Overview
The גמרא explains a ברייתא that lists people who do not get a share of תרומה at the threshing floor, and gives a reason for each one. For an אשה, רב פפא and רב הונא בריה דרב יהושע disagree: one says the worry is a hidden גרושה, the other says it is יחוד. The גמרא shows where those two reasons lead to different rulings. It then explains why תרומה may be sent home to a ערל but not to a טמא: the ערל is much more truly forced into his condition. A second ברייתא teaches that a woman is served first when מעשר עני is given out, to spare her embarrassment, and רבא tells how this led him to hear women's court cases first. Back in the משנה, רבא says the mixed-up sons are forced to free each other so that they can marry. The משנה's rule that 'the stringencies of both' apply to them is explained as being about their מנחה: a קמיצה is taken, the rest is not eaten, and in the end the שיריים are scattered on the בית הדשן according to all opinions. Finally, a new משנה begins about a son whose father is unknown, ruling that he and his half-brothers do חליצה but not יבום.
