Releasing and marrying a יבמה: מאמר, ביאה without מאמר and rabbinic lashes, the יבם's כתובה, and a limited גט for a יבמה
Overview
The amud opens by fixing a mismatch in the משנה. Its heading says 'גט after גט,' but its example is מאמר and then a גט. רב יהודה explains that the example starts a new question, and after מאמר and a גט, חליצה is still needed. Next, the גמרא asks whether the משנה's line 'מאמר then ביאה is according to its מצוה' supports רב הונא. It concludes that ביאה without מאמר still acquires the יבמה, though the יבם gets rabbinic מכת מרדות for immodesty. This leads to a list of people רב flogged for improper conduct, and נהרדעא say he flogged only for betrothal through ביאה. A ברייתא then explains how מאמר is done, and אביי shows that its 'document' means the יבם's כתובה, which is paid from the first husband's property or else from the יבם. אביי then asks רבה about a limited גט to a יבמה, and רבה rules it disqualifies her, because it has ריח הגט and forbids a woman to a כהן. The amud ends with רמי בר חמא's rule about a גט written for an ארוסה, which continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
הַאי גֵּט אַחַר גֵּט הוּא?
Is this a case of a bill of divorce after a bill of divorce?
אָמַר רַב יְהוּדָה, הָכִי קָאָמַר:
Rav Yehuda said: This is what he is saying:
גֵּט אַחַר הַגֵּט, וּמַאֲמָר אַחַר מַאֲמָר — כְּדַאֲמַרַן,
A bill of divorce after the bill of divorce, and levirate betrothal after levirate betrothal, are as we said,
יָבָם אֶחָד וִיבָמָה אַחַת כֵּיצַד הַתָּרָתָן?
But one yavam and one yevama, how is their release done?
