Lien-cancelling acts, a wife's right to her family's items, and whether a fetus of a כהן lets slaves eat תרומה

Overview

The amud opens with the end of a rule from the previous discussion: like הקדש and חמץ, freeing a slave cancels a creditor's lien. Next, רב יהודה rules that a wife can take back her dowry items that rose in value. She takes one as her כתובה and may even pay for the other, because of שבח בית אביה. Then a new משנה begins. רבי יוסי rules that if a כהן dies and leaves his בת ישראל wife pregnant, her slaves may not eat תרומה, because the fetus owns a share and a fetus disqualifies but does not enable. The גמרא asks for his reason. רבה says a fetus inside a non-כהן mother counts as a non-כהן. רב יוסף says an unborn child cannot let others eat. A ברייתא is brought that challenges רב יוסף, and the challenge stands as a קשיא. שמואל reports that the חכמים disagree with רבי יוסי, though שמואל himself agrees with him. A ברייתא then sets out the cases of children, a fetus, and the two kinds of slaves, together with the views of רבי ישמעאל ברבי יוסי and רבי שמעון בן יוחי. The amud ends in the middle of explaining רבי שמעון's view, and the explanation continues on the next amud.
