Whether an עובר's possible share stops a dead כהן's slaves from eating תרומה, and a new משנה on connections that disqualify a woman from תרומה but cannot make her eligible.
Overview
A כהן died and left a pregnant widow. The question is whether his slaves may still eat תרומה, since if the עובר is a boy he owns a share of them. The גמרא gives two ways to explain רבי שמעון, who lets the slaves eat. Either he ignores the minority chance that the עובר is a living boy, or בית דין uses רב נחמן's rule to give the עובר a share without slaves. Next comes רבי ישמעאל ברבי יוסי, who says a daughter lets the slaves eat but a son does not. אביי first explains this as a small estate, נכסים מועטים, but רבי יוחנן's ruling knocks that down. So the גמרא rereads 'daughter' as the mother herself, and says the whole ברייתא is רבי ישמעאל ברבי יוסי's. A new משנה then lists five connections, among them the עובר, the יבם and אירוסין, that take a בת כהן away from תרומה but cannot let a בת ישראל eat it. The גמרא starts explaining each item from a פסוק, and the explanation of אירוסין continues on the next amud.
