The end of פרק הערל on the אנדרוגינוס, and the opening משנה and גמרא of the new chapter on women permitted or forbidden to husband and יבם.
Overview
The גמרא finishes a proof from the previous page. A teaching lists animals that cannot take part in תמורה, and the אנדרוגינוס is on that list, so רבי אליעזר does not treat it as a definite male. Next comes רבי אליעזר's ruling that one who has relations with an אנדרוגינוס gets סקילה as with a male. A ברייתא tells how רבי learned this one ruling at רבי אלעזר בן שמוע's study hall. פרק הערל then closes with the הדרן. A new chapter opens with a משנה about women who may be permitted or forbidden to their husband, to his brother the יבם, or to both. The משנה applies the same pattern to שניות, which are rabbinic bans, and contrasts the money rights of a שניה with those of women in Torah-forbidden marriages. The גמרא then asks why the first case says "married" and not "betrothed". It concludes that the wording matches the neighboring case of a חלל. Finally it asks why that case says "widow" and not "virgin", and the discussion continues on the next amud.
