The indispensable details of the מילואים, and the order in which משה dressed אהרן and his sons
Overview
The גמרא continues discussing which details of the מילואים, the seven-day inauguration of the כהנים, are indispensable (מעכב). It asks how we know that details written only in the fulfillment section in ספר ויקרא are also indispensable. Three אמוראים give three sources: a גזירה שוה from 'פתח', the phrase 'ושמרתם את משמרת ה׳', and the phrase 'כי כן צויתי'. That last phrase leads to a ברייתא explaining three similar 'command' phrases connected to eating the offering in אנינות. Next, רבי יוסי בר חנינא teaches that the מכנסים and the עשירית האיפה are included through the word 'וזה', and the גמרא finds a גזירה שוה of 'זה' for the עשירית האיפה. רבי יוחנן, quoting רבי שמעון בן יוחאי, adds that even reading the פרשה aloud was מעכב. Finally, the גמרא asks in what order משה dressed אהרן and his sons, and justifies the question as a way to understand the פסוקים. אביי narrows the dispute to the אבנט, and the גמרא challenges the 'together' view from the verses in ויקרא; the answer comes on the next amud.
