Sprinkling amounts, the status of a בכור's substitute and dedication, which offerings can get mixed up, and רבי שמעון on bringing קדשים to unfitness

Overview

The amud opens by finishing a challenge. Rules saying that a הזאה of any amount purifies seem to show that רבי needs no minimum amount for placing blood. The גמרא answers that רבי was following רבי אליעזר, or that sprinkling water and placing blood are separate laws. Next, רמי בר חמא asks whether the תמורה of a blemished בכור keeps the בכור's restrictions, and רבא shows from a ברייתא that it does. רמי בר חמא then asks whether a בכור dedicated to בדק הבית may be sold by weight. After a proof and an objection are each knocked down, רבי אמי rules that a person can only give over what he owns, so it may not be sold by weight. The גמרא then explains which offerings can get mixed up: hair versus wool keeps a חטאת apart from an אשם, but age differences do not. A new משנה records רבי שמעון's view that a mixed אשם and שלמים are eaten by the stricter rules, and the חכמים object that holy food may not be brought to unfitness. The amud ends as רבה limits רבי שמעון's view to בדיעבד, and אביי begins an objection that continues on the next amud.
