Which חטאת blood requires כיבוס, and רבי אבין's and לוי's questions about the blood of a bird offering and of blood sprayed from garment to garment
Overview
The תורה says that if blood of a חטאת splashes on a garment, the garment must be washed (כיבוס). The גמרא first finishes showing that the inner sin offerings share many more features with the eaten animal חטאת than the bird offering does, so the bird חטאת is the one left out. רב יוסף gives another source: "יאכלנה" shows the excluded offering is an eaten one, and "זאת" shows there is an exclusion at all. רבה reads "אשר יזה" (sprinkling) to mean the passage is mainly about the inner offerings. "תורת" then adds the outer animal חטאת, and "זאת" leaves out the bird, because the animal offering is far more similar. רבי אבין then asks two questions about bird blood: is carrying a bird into the היכל with blood in its neck like bringing in a vessel, and is bird blood gathered from the floor valid? Proofs are suggested for each, and both are rejected. Finally לוי asks whether blood that sprays from one garment onto another still needs washing. רבי answers yes either way, relying on רבי עקיבא.
