Cleaning pots used for קדשים: רבי טרפון's reason, the timing and method of מריקה ושטיפה, and mixtures of stricter and less strict sacrificial meat

Overview

The משנה ends by saying that a spit and a grill used for קדשים are purged in hot water. The גמרא asks why רבי טרפון lets a pot be used for the whole רגל without מריקה ושטיפה. Its first answer, that the פסוק makes the whole רגל 'one morning,' is rejected because of פיגול and נותר and because of a ברייתא of רבי נתן. Instead, the גמרא explains that each day's cooking purges the day before. It then explains the חכמים: wait until the eating time ends, then scour and rinse, as learned from two פסוקים side by side. A ברייתא brings an argument between רבי and the חכמים about whether scouring uses hot or cold water, and each side defends its reading of 'ומרק ושטף'. A new משנה deals with stricter and less strict meat cooked together. The גמרא rereads it as two cases, with taste and without taste. אביי and רבא then explain why the pot needs no scouring in the case without taste, and the גמרא shows why both cases in the משנה are needed. Finally, a ברייתא starts to derive from 'בבשרה' that only the part that absorbed is affected, and this continues on the next עמוד.
