Topic
מלקות for cooking or eating חלב in milk, and which animals' milk is included in the איסור of בשר בחלב.
Overview
The amud opens by finishing the argument between רבי אמי and רבי אסי about מלקות for cooking or eating חלב in milk. It gives three versions: no lashes for eating with an argument about cooking; lashes for cooking with an argument about eating; or no argument at all. A ברייתא then challenges the view of אין איסור חל על איסור, since it says פיגול, נותר and טמא meat cooked in milk does bring lashes. The גמרא answers that this ברייתא follows a תנא who holds איסור חל על איסור. The same ברייתא's ruling that cooking in whey is פטור is shown to support ריש לקיש. Next, two ברייתות use the repeated words בחלב אמו to include cow and ewe milk and the milk of the kid's older sister, and each time רב אשי explains why a קל וחומר from the mother is not enough. The younger sister is learned through a הצד השוה of the mother and the older sister. Finally the גמרא agrees that the older sister can be learned this way too, so the extra בחלב אמו must teach something else, and a ברייתא explaining this begins and continues on the next amud.
