Which teaching of רבי יהודה is the source for רב's ruling that an animal slaughtered on שבת is forbidden that day: בררה, broken vessels, separated food, or old lamps?
Overview
The גמרא is searching for which teaching of רבי יהודה lies behind רב's ruling that an animal slaughtered on שבת or יום כיפור may not be eaten that day. First it shows that רבי יהודה rejects בררה. The wine case does not prove this, but איו's ברייתא about עירוב does, once רבי יוחנן explains that the חכם had already arrived. Then רב יוסף offers a new source: רבי יהודה's rule that broken vessels may be moved only for a job like their original one, since they were not ready from before שבת. אביי rejects this comparison. A broken vessel is something new (נולד), but meat is just food that was separated, and רבי יהודה permits juice that seeps from fruit meant for eating. The גמרא brings שמואל's teaching about olives and grapes, which would make the animal forbidden. It then notes that רב himself holds that רבי יהודה disagreed even there. Finally רב ששת בריה דרב אידי points to רבי יהודה's ruling on old lamps. The גמרא asks whether that applies to something forbidden because of a prohibition, says yes, and begins a proof that continues on the next amud.
