End of פרק הזורק (the relative in a גט מקושר and קיום from any three), and the start of פרק המגרש: a גט that frees the woman to marry anyone 'except so-and-so'
Overview
The amud opens by finishing a proof that the empty spot in a גט מקושר may be filled by a relative only when one witness is missing. אביי then learns two things from the fact that no fixed spot was set for that relative. First, he may sign first, in the middle, or last. Second, the גט can be confirmed from any three witnesses, even if they did not sign in a row. רבי אמי rules in practice that a missing witness may be completed even with a slave from the marketplace, and פרק הזורק ends. The new chapter's משנה brings a husband who frees his wife to marry anyone 'אלא' one man: רבי אליעזר says the divorce works and חכמים say it does not. The משנה adds that the fix is to give the גט again with a full release, but a written exception ruins the גט even if it is erased. The גמרא asks whether אלא means 'except' or 'on condition', and רבינא proves from a משנה about נגעים that it means 'except'. The amud ends by quoting רבי יוסי ברבי יהודה, who says everyone agrees 'except' fails and places the argument on a condition instead. His ruling continues on the next amud.
