Which sins bring the court's bull and the אשם תלוי: none for Temple impurity, yes for נדה; the word-links that prove it; and whether the king brings the sliding-scale offering.
Overview
The amud opens by finishing an older search: a second verse, 'from the day that ה׳ commanded,' is offered to show the communal sin-offering is about עבודה זרה. That proof fails because ten מצוות were given at מרה, so the גמרא returns to its first source. A new משנה then teaches that the court's bull and the individual's אשם תלוי do not apply to the Temple-impurity laws, but they do apply to the laws of נדה. רב יצחק בר אבדימי links the words ואשם and ואשמו to show that both offerings come only for sins that bring a fixed חטאת. After challenges from other word forms and from the טומאת מקדש section, רב פפא and then רב נחמן בר יצחק strengthen the link by adding more shared phrases. A second משנה says the court is not liable for the three sliding-scale sins, and רבי יוסי הגלילי and רבי עקיבא argue about whether the king is exempt. עולא's source for רבי יוסי הגלילי is challenged, and the גמרא begins a new source from רבי ירמיה that continues on the next amud.
