A first בעילה on שבת and יום טוב, and the wedding ברכה for an אלמנה

Overview

This amud finishes a proof from opening an abscess on שבת. The גמרא rejects it: pus in an abscess is fully separated from the body, but the blood of בתולים is not. Next come practical rulings. רבי אמי, רב זביד and רב יהודה all allowed a first בעילה, and רבא's view on שבת is reported in two opposite versions. רב פפא's version, which forbids it on שבת, leads to a debate about which מלאכות are allowed on יום טוב. Incense is excluded, and a deer is included, because only things every person needs are allowed. רבי יוחנן forbade a first בעילה on שבת, but the final הלכה is that it is permitted. The amud then turns to ברכת חתנים for an אלמנה. A בחור who marries her says the ברכה for seven days, and an אלמון who marries her says it for one day. Three days of rejoicing are a separate count from the days of ברכה.
