חולין שנשחטו בעזרה and קידושין, money from forbidden items, and whether טובת הנאה is money
Overview
The ברייתא widens the איסור of חולין שנשחטו בעזרה to cover בעלי מומין, חיה and עופות. It also forbids any benefit from such meat, not just eating it. מר יהודה then quotes רבי שמעון, who says קידושין with this meat works, and contrasts it with רבי שמעון's ruling that the meat must be burned. רבה resolves the contradiction: the קידושין case is about an animal that turned out to be a טריפה, and for רבי שמעון that animal is not forbidden for benefit. Next the גמרא explains why money from selling forbidden items may be used for קידושין. Only עבודה זרה and שביעית pass their status on to the money, and the גמרא shows how שביעית status moves along a chain of trades. A new משנה then rules that a ישראל can betroth with תרומות, מעשרות and other gifts. This leads to a debate over whether טובת הנאה counts as money. עולא explains the משנה as an inheritance from a כהן grandfather, so the משנה cannot prove the question either way.

מְרַבֶּה אֲנִי בַּעֲלֵי מוּמִין,
