Doubled and single-word answers to a proposal of קידושין, and the laws of קידושין with a שטר

Overview

The amud opens with three short stories. In each, a woman asks a man for something small, he asks whether she will be מקודשת with it, and she answers with a doubled word like "Give, give!" רב חמא and רב זביד rule that a doubled answer means nothing. On a single-word answer, רבינא says she is מקודשת and רב סמא בר רקתא swears she is not. The הלכה is that she is not מקודשת. The גמרא then gives final rulings on earlier cases: silk, רבי אלעזר, and רבא in the name of רב נחמן. Next a ברייתא teaches קידושין with a שטר, and רבי זירא בר ממל asks why the husband writes it when a seller writes a bill of sale. רבא first answers from the פסוקים, and after challenges he says it is a הלכה from tradition that is only leaned on the פסוקים. רב נחמן explains that the father's consent counts before she is a בוגרת and her own consent counts after. Finally ריש לקיש asks about a שטר אירוסין not written for her, and that question continues on the next amud.
