Overview

The amud opens by finishing a question: does the לאו of ״כליל תהיה״ cover anything that must be burned completely, or only the מנחת כהן? רב אהרן answers from a ברייתא of רבי אליעזר that it covers everything that must be burned completely. A new משנה then gives two mirror lists. Three מנחות go entirely to the מזבח, and שתי הלחם and לחם הפנים go entirely to the כהנים. The גמרא tests each list against other offerings, such as the עולה, the bird עולה, נסכים, the bird חטאת and the מצורע's oil. It shows why each one does not belong on the list. It also explains what the משנה's word 'בזו' comes to exclude in each half. Another משנה teaches that מנחות made in a כלי need three placements of oil. It records a מחלוקת between רבי and the חכמים about when the oil is mixed, and explains that wafers are smeared in an X shape. רב פפא says the oven-baked מנחה is excluded from the three placements. A ברייתא then starts deriving these oil rules from the פסוקים, and its גזירה שוה continues on the next amud.
