Oil for the baked מנחות (mixing, smearing, pouring) and breaking מנחות into pieces

Overview

This amud first finishes a comparison between the two pan מנחות, the מחבת and the מרחשת: both get oil in the vessel first, pouring, and mixing. Next comes the argument between רבי and the חכמים over whether the oil is mixed in after baking, as loaves, or before baking, as flour. A ברייתא gives each side's פסוק and lays out each side's full order of work. The גמרא then explains that mixing as loaves is 'impossible' because a רביעית of oil cannot be spread over many loaves. Next, the גמרא learns from the פסוקים that oven-baked חלות are only mixed and רקיקין are only smeared, in the shape of a Greek chi (X). Two ברייתות disagree about whether the wafers are covered completely or just marked with an X, and what happens to the leftover oil. A new משנה teaches that every מנחה made in a vessel is broken into pieces, but the שתי הלחם and the לחם הפנים are not. The amud ends by asking how the word 'היא' is known to exclude the wafers from pouring rather than the מנחת כהנים.

Opening lines

מָה כָּאן – מַתַּן שֶׁמֶן בִּכְלִי,

Just as here – placing oil in a vessel [first],

אַף לְהַלָּן – מַתַּן שֶׁמֶן בִּכְלִי.

so too there – placing oil in a vessel [first].

וּמָה לְהַלָּן – יְצִיקָה וּבְלִילָה,

And just as there – pouring and mixing,

אַף כָּאן יְצִיקָה וּבְלִילָה.

so too here – pouring and mixing.
