קמיצה and קידוש in a כלי on the ground, whether blood and the קומץ become holy when split between two כלים, and leftover blood on the כהן's finger.
Overview
The amud opens by finishing רב ששת's proof that a כהן may take the קמיצה from a כלי resting on the ground. The proof is that the לחם הפנים משנה counts every כהן, yet never mentions anyone lifting the שלחן before the בזיכין are removed. רבא says this is obvious, and adds that a מנחה may also be sanctified in a כלי on the ground. He then asks whether קידוש קומץ follows the rules of a מנחה or of blood, and decides it follows blood. That forces him to take back his earlier ruling that a קומץ split between two כלים becomes holy. The גמרא looks for the source that split blood is not holy. It finds it in the sprinkling-water rule, the words 'וטבל' and 'בדם', and a ברייתא about the פר כהן משיח. From the words 'מן הדם', רבא learns that leftover blood on the finger is פסול, and he defends this against challenges from a ברייתא and from the פרה אדומה משנה. The amud ends by asking whether רבי אלעזר really holds that split blood is not holy, since he says the חביתי כהן גדול becomes holy in halves; the answer comes on the next amud.
