Topic
Whether the parts of a מנחה are sanctified separately in a כלי שרת (רבי חנינא, רב and שמואל), and whether a קמיצה or a slaughter done inside the היכל is valid.
Overview
This amud opens with the end of רבי חנינא's view: the flour, oil and לבונה of a מנחה become holy in a כלי שרת only together. The גמרא asks why, according to him, the עשרון and the לוג were anointed. It answers that they serve offerings with only one ingredient: the מנחת חוטא and the oil of a מצורע. Next, the גמרא shows from שמואל's comment on a משנה about blood bowls that שמואל agrees with רב: one part of a מנחה can become holy without the other. The גמרא then examines רבי אלעזר's ruling that a קמיצה done in the היכל is valid. It defends this ruling against a challenge from the פסוק 'וקמץ משם', explaining that the פסוק only teaches that the קמיצה may be done anywhere in the עזרה. Finally, it turns to רבי יוחנן's ruling that שלמים slaughtered in the היכל are valid. It begins a challenge from a ברייתא about כהנים eating קדשים in the היכל during a siege, and this challenge continues on the next amud.
