Can sanctity end by itself, with no פדיון? The difference between קדושת דמים and קדושת הגוף
Overview
This amud continues the discussion of the משנה's case of saplings declared holy until they are cut. רב המנונא asks how such holiness can simply disappear. He compares it to a marriage, which cannot end without a גט. רבא answers by separating two kinds of holiness. קדושת דמים, holiness of monetary value, can end by itself. קדושת הגוף, holiness of the thing itself, cannot. אביי challenges רבא with a ברייתא about an ox that is an עולה for thirty days and a שלמים afterward. The גמרא answers that the man consecrated only the ox's value, so it was קדושת דמים. The גמרא then tests this answer against the end of the same ברייתא, where the order of the offerings is flipped, and that challenge continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
אֲמַר לֵיהּ רַב הַמְנוּנָא:
Rav Hamnuna said to him:
קְדוּשָּׁה שֶׁבָּהֶן לְהֵיכָן הָלְכָה?
The holiness that was in them, where did it go?
וּמָה אִילּוּ אָמַר לְאִשָּׁה
And what if one said to a woman
״הַיּוֹם אַתְּ אִשְׁתִּי
"Today you are my wife
