Bones and sinews of the פסח, רב's rule on sinews, and why נותר is not burned on יום טוב
Overview
The amud opens by finishing an explanation. Bones of ordinary קדשים found in piles, some opened, need no burning, but bones of the פסח may still hold marrow because of the איסור of שבירת העצם. רב then rules that all sinews count as meat except the neck sinews. The גמרא challenges him from our משנה: the 'sinews' burned on the sixteenth seem to be neck sinews, and burning them implies they are meat. Three אמוראים defend רב by rereading the משנה. רב חסדא says it means the גיד הנשה according to רבי יהודה, רב אשי says the fat of the גיד הנשה, and רבינא says the outer sinew described by שמואל. Next the גמרא asks why נותר is not burned on יום טוב itself, since an עשה overrides a לא תעשה. חזקיה, אביי and רבא each bring a different פסוק to answer, and רבא's explanation continues on the next amud.
