End of פרק האשה: checking a בית הפרס for people bringing the קרבן פסח. Start of פרק מי שהיה טמא: who brings פסח שני, and why the Torah mentions טמא and דרך רחוקה specifically.
Overview
This עמוד opens with the end of a ruling: we check a בית הפרס (a field that may hold crushed bones) for people bringing the קרבן פסח, but not for people eating תרומה. שמואל explains that the check is done by blowing on the dust while walking. A second view says that a trampled בית הפרס is simply טהור. Then פרק האשה closes with the הדרן, and פרק מי שהיה טמא begins. Its משנה teaches that a טמא, someone on a דרך רחוקה, a שוגג, and an אנוס all bring פסח שני. The תורה names טמא and דרך רחוקה only to show who is פטור from כרת. The גמרא then brings a מחלוקת about a far-away person whose פסח was brought for him anyway. רב נחמן says it counts and רב ששת says it does not, and each side argues from the wording 'ולא עשה' and the plural 'חייבין' in the משנה. Finally רב ששת begins quoting a ברייתא of רבי עקיבא, which continues on the next עמוד.
Opening lines
שֶׁבּוֹדְקִין לְעוֹשֵׂי פֶסַח,
that we check for those making the Pesach,
וְאֵין בּוֹדְקִין לְאוֹכְלֵי תְרוּמָה.
but we do not check for those eating terumah.
מַאי בּוֹדְקִין (לְעוֹשֵׂי פֶּסַח)?
What is meant by 'we check (for those making the Pesach)'?

- ResponseThe difference is about כרת
- StatementThe dispute: a far-away person whose פסח was brought anyway
- Statementרב נחמן's reasoning: the תורה went easy on him
- Statementרב ששת's reasoning: the תורה pushed him off like a טמא
- Proofרב נחמן's proof from the words 'and did not do the first'
- Rejectionרב ששת: the same words appear where 'he could have' is impossible
- ResolutionThe real meaning: an extra case hidden in each clause
- Proofרב אשי: The plural 'they are liable' supports רב ששת
- Rejectionרב נחמן: Only the intentional one is meant, and the plural is just style
- Proofרב ששת begins quoting his source from רבי עקיבא
