קרח's rebellion: the two wives, the seriousness of מחלוקת and opposing one's רבי, קרח's wealth and death, and the fate of his group

Overview

This amud opens at the end of the story of און בן פלת's wife, whose clever trick kept her husband away from קרח's group. The גמרא then tells how קרח's wife pushed him into the rebellion with complaints against משה, and reads משלי 14:1 about the two wives. Next it explains who the 250 men with קרח were, and what slander made משה fall on his face. From משה going to דתן ואבירם, the גמרא learns that keeping a מחלוקת going is forbidden. It then teaches that fighting with, complaining about, or even suspecting one's רבי is like doing so against the שכינה. The גמרא describes קרח's huge wealth, which came from יוסף's hidden treasure, and brings two views on whether קרח was swallowed, burned, or neither. It ends with aggadot: the sun and moon protesting for משה, משה asking for the opening of גיהנם to be brought close, the sons of קרח singing in a safe spot, and the swallowed group admitting that משה and his תורה are true.
