Overview

The גמרא asks what the extra phrase "כל צורכי מילה" in the משנה adds. It answers with a ברייתא: while the מוהל is still busy, he may go back for any leftover shreds (ציצין). Once he has stopped (פירש), he may go back only for shreds that make the מילה invalid. The גמרא then searches for the תנא behind "פירש אינו חוזר". רבי ישמעאל בנו של רבי יוחנן בן ברוקה and רבי יוסי are each suggested and pushed aside. The final source is the רבנן who argue with רבי יוסי about the לחם הפנים: for them, even a short gap counts as a break. Next comes a ברייתא that an unfinished מילה brings כרת. After רב כהנא and רב פפא are challenged, רב אשי explains that it means a מוהל who was warned he lacked time before שבת ended, went ahead anyway, and only made a wound. The גמרא then explains the משנה's מציצה: skipping it is dangerous, like skipping the bandage and כמון. It ends with bandage recipes from אביי and רבא, and a story about רבא and the doctor's sons that continues on the next amud.
