The opinion of רבי שמעון בן אלעזר on storing, and the new משנה on the amounts of animal feed one must carry out on שבת to be liable (with the dispute about carrying feed in a measure meant for one animal but intended for another)

Overview

This amud opens with רבי אלעזר noting that the previous משנה does not follow רבי שמעון בן אלעזר. In רבי שמעון בן אלעזר's view, once one person stores an item, anyone who carries it out is liable. A new משנה then lists how much of each animal feed (straw, עצה, grain stalks, grass, onion and garlic leaves) one must carry out on שבת to be liable. It also rules that the different feeds do not combine toward one measure. The גמרא defines עצה as legume straw. It then brings רב דימי's report of a dispute between רבי יוחנן and ריש לקיש about a cow's mouthful of straw carried for a camel. In רבין's version, everyone agrees that case is liable. The real argument is about a cow's mouthful of עצה for a cow, and it depends on whether 'eating under pressure' counts as eating. The גמרא shows that the משנה's measure for עמיר and a ברייתא's measure are really the same amount. רבי יוסי בר חנינא then says that different feeds do combine toward the more lenient measure. The גמרא challenges him from the case of cloth, sack, leather and mat, which combine only because they share טומאת מושב. רבא begins his answer, which continues on the next amud.
