The end of the אלכסנדר מוקדון story and the close of the פרק with praise of תורה, then a new פרק: the כהנים' morning prayers, the קטורת and אברים lotteries, and the start of the קטורת service.
Overview
This amud finishes the אגדה about אלכסנדר מוקדון. The women of Africa mock his greed, and he admits he learned sense from them. He then finds a spring that flows from גן עדן. In one version he follows it to the gate and is turned away, but he is given an eyeball that outweighs all his gold and silver. The רבנן explain that a human eye is never satisfied, until it is covered with dust. The גמרא adds a teaching from תנא דבי אליהו about where גיהנם is. The פרק then closes with praise of תורה learning and the הדרן. A new פרק begins with a משנה about the morning prayers of the כהנים in the מקדש. It goes on to describe the lotteries for the קטורת and for bringing the אברים up to the מזבח, what happened to the כהנים who won nothing, and the כף that the קטורת כהן takes.
