The order of the morning עבודה: bringing the coals, the פסכתר, the signal of the מגרפה, and the jobs inside the היכל ending with the burning of the קטורת.
Overview
This amud has no back-and-forth argument. It is plain משנה describing the order of the morning עבודה in the מקדש. First it finishes describing the קטורת vessel. Then the כהן of the מחתה scoops coals from the outer מזבח with a silver pan and pours them into a gold pan. The spilled coals are swept into the אמה, but on שבת they are covered with the פסכתר, which had three uses. Next, a כהן throws the מגרפה, and its loud sound signals the כהנים, the לוים, and the ראש המעמד, and the פרק ends. The new פרק הֵחֵלּוּ עוֹלִים describes each כהן's job inside the היכל: the inner מזבח, the מנורה, spreading the coals, and burning the קטורת only when the ממונה gives the word. The פרק ends with the people stepping away while the קטורת is burned.
