Overview

רבי יוסי ברבי חנינא says that even רבי אלעזר agrees that the baby of a female set aside for an אשם is not brought as an אשם. The גמרא explains why this ruling is needed, and why it is said about an אשם and not about an עולה. Then a משנה rules that a female set aside for an אשם must graze until it gets a מום before it is sold. רבי שמעון says it may be sold right away. רב explains the first view with a מיגו: since קדושת דמים came onto the animal, קדושת הגוף came too. רבא first disagrees with רב כהנא about a male consecrated for its value, then changes his mind and agrees with him. רבי יוחנן explains that רבי שמעון holds that something unfit to be offered never gets קדושת הגוף. He backs this up with the case of an אשם brought at the wrong age. The גמרא answers a challenge from an animal that is too young, which רבי שמעון learns from a בכור. A new ברייתא about a female set aside for an עולה begins and continues on the next amud.
