How far does the גזירה שוה of תושב ושכיר carry פסח rules over to תרומה? It brings in ערלות. It does not bring in אנינות or the rule about uncircumcised sons and slaves.

Overview

This amud defends the גזירה שוה of תושב ושכיר, which teaches that a ערל may not eat תרומה just as he may not eat the פסח. First the גמרא shows that the words are extra on both sides, so the גזירה שוה cannot be refuted, even according to רבי אלעזר. Then it tests how far the comparison reaches. Should an אונן be barred from תרומה? No. The verse 'וכל זר' limits the תרומה ban to זרות, while the גזירה שוה still brings in ערלות. The גמרא explains why ערלות is the one included: it has more stringencies, or, as רבא says, it is written in the פסח section itself. Next it asks whether uncircumcised sons and slaves block a man from תרומה. The word 'בו' in 'ומלתה אותו אז יאכל בו' limits that rule to the פסח. A man's own ערלות still blocks him through the גזירה שוה, since others' ערלות cannot be stricter than his own. Finally the גמרא asks what 'בו' teaches by the בן נכר, and the answer continues on the next amud.

Opening lines

אַלְמָא לָא קָנֵי לֵיהּ רַבֵּיהּ.

So we see that his master does not acquire him.

הָכָא נָמֵי לָא קָנֵי לֵיהּ רַבֵּיהּ,

Here too, his master does not acquire him,

אֶלָּא לְאַפְנוֹיֵי.

Rather, it is written to be free.

וְאַכַּתִּי מוּפְנֶה מִצַּד אֶחָד הוּא,

But still, it is free from only one side,
