Who counts as a פצוע דכא: damage בידי שמים, where the injury must be, the עטרה, and the shape of a cut

Overview

The amud opens by finishing a challenge about a man whose testicle was pierced by a thorn and who still had children. The גמרא answers that רב doubted the children were his. שמואל rules that a man damaged בידי שמים is כשר. This is supported by the word פצוע in the פסוק and by a ברייתא comparing it to ממזר. רבא then teaches that wounded, crushed and severed each apply to the member, the testicles and the cords. The גמרא proves that פצוע דכא means an injury to the private parts: it compares it to כרות שפכה and reads that phrase closely, ruling out the lips and the nose. Next come rules about a hole in the עטרה and how much of the עטרה must remain. רב הונא and רב חסדא disagree about a cut shaped like a quill or a gutter, and the final הלכה is that both shapes are כשר. The amud ends with two real cases. The second one, about seed leaving through the urinary passage, continues on the next amud.

Opening lines

וְחַרְזֵיהּ סִילְוָא בְּבֵיצִים,

and a thorn pierced him in the testicles,

וּנְפַק מִינֵּיהּ כְּחוּט דְּמוּגְלָא,

and something like a thread of pus came out of him,

וְאוֹלֵיד!

and yet he had children!

הָא שְׁלַח שְׁמוּאֵל לְקַמֵּיהּ דְּרַב

But didn't Shmuel send this case before Rav
