Damage to the male organ and marriage into the קהל; a wounded כהן and marrying a נתינה
Overview
This amud continues the laws of a man whose organ was damaged, which can bar him from marrying into the קהל. רב פפי insists that semen which does not exit through its proper place cannot cause conception. שמואל rules that a hole at the עטרה which healed closed makes the man unfit only if an emission would tear it open again. The גמרא then discusses how to test this, and a ברייתא adds that once such a hole closes, the man becomes fit again. אביי gives a remedy to help a small hole heal. רבא rules that the הלכה follows neither רבה בר רב הונא, who disqualified a man who urinates from two places, nor his father רב הונא, who disqualified נשים המסוללות from marrying a כהן. A new משנה teaches that a פצוע דכא and a כרות שפכה may marry a convert or a freed maidservant. The גמרא then asks about a wounded כהן. That leads to a debate over why a wounded man may marry a נתינה and whether marriage with gentiles takes effect at all. The debate continues on the next amud.
