When an עולה becomes פסול: does the hide (עור) still go to the כהנים? The מחלוקת between רבי and רבי אלעזר ברבי שמעון, and whether it matches the מחלוקת of רבי אליעזר and רבי יהושע.
Overview
The גמרא first explains that 'after הפשט' means after the animal became fit to be flayed, which is after זריקת הדם. It then quotes a ברייתא. רבי says the blood makes the hide acceptable on its own. רבי אלעזר ברבי שמעון says the hide depends on the meat, but a פסול after זריקה still leaves the hide for the כהנים. The גמרא suggests that this matches the מחלוקת of רבי אליעזר and רבי יהושע about whether blood and meat depend on each other, but rejects the match. Both views can fit רבי יהושע, since he might agree the blood works when the כהנים would lose the hide, just as he agrees the blood works דיעבד. Next the גמרא defends רבי חנינא סגן הכהנים, who said he never saw a hide go out to be burned. It narrows his claim step by step to a stripped hide of a disqualified קרבן, and it shows that he holds the blood still works for a טריפה found in the inner organs, as רבי עקיבא learned from him. רבי יוחנן rules like רבי עקיבא, but only when an expert permitted the בכור. The final הלכה, however, follows the חכמים: the meat is buried and the hide is burned. The amud ends with a new משנה about where the burned bulls and goats are burned, and when they make clothing טמא.
