The מחלוקת over אימורים that left the עזרה, and the rules for which offering is brought first
Overview
The amud opens with the end of a ברייתא. רבי אליעזר and רבי עקיבא argue about אימורים that left the עזרה before the blood was sprinkled. The גמרא first suggests they argue about whether leaving the עזרה disqualifies the parts. רב פפא says instead that they argue about whether the זריקה works for parts that are still outside, and the גמרא shows this fits with his other statement about the שתי לחם. Next the גמרא goes back to the משנה's order of precedence: birds come before מנחות, and a מנחת חוטא comes before a מנחת נדבה. It then asks whether a מנחת סוטה or a מנחת נדבה comes first, and neither of the proofs it brings settles the question. The גמרא then finds the source for the rule that every חטאת comes before its עולה, even a bird חטאת before an animal עולה. A ברייתא of רבי אליעזר seems to put the יולדת's עולה first, but רבא explains that this is only the order of the words in the פסוק. The amud ends with a ברייתא that orders bulls, rams, sheep, and goats, which sets up a new challenge to that rule.

The steps (25)
- StatementThe end of the ברייתא: רבי אליעזר versus רבי עקיבא
- ProofA suggestion: they argue whether leaving the עזרה disqualifies
- Rejectionרב פפא: they argue about parts still outside during the זריקה
- Challengeרב פפא seems to contradict himself
- ResolutionTwo loaves versus the offering's own parts
- ChallengeShouldn't meal offerings come before birds?
- ResolutionBlood offerings are more important
- ChallengeShouldn't the voluntary meal offering come first?
- ResolutionAtonement comes first
- QuestionThe סוטה's meal offering or a voluntary one: which comes first?
- ProofTrying to prove from the משנה that a סוטה's offering does not come first
- RejectionThe משנה's reason is 'it comes because of a sin,' which fits the סוטה too
- ProofA second proof from a ברייתא: wheat comes before barley
- RejectionPerhaps the ברייתא means the sinner's מנחה versus the סוטה's
- ChallengeBut then the ברייתא should have said 'because it atones'
- ChallengeThe same problem hits the voluntary-מנחה reading
- ConclusionThe ברייתא just named one of two reasons
- QuestionWhere do we learn that the bird sin offering comes first?
- ResponseA ברייתא points out that a phrase in the פסוק seems extra
- ResolutionThe extra word sets up a general rule for every חטאת
- ConclusionSummary: which source teaches which case
- Challengeרבי אליעזר: in the case of the יולדת, the burnt offering comes first
- ChallengeTwo more reasons the יולדת's עולה seems to come first
- Resolutionרבא: the עולה comes first only in the wording of the פסוק
- ChallengeA new ברייתא about the order of bulls, rams, sheep and goats
